An enterprise organization partnered with UsefulBI to design and deploy SOLAS, a secure, cloud-native analytics platform on AWS. Built on Amazon EKS and SAS Viya, the platform delivered scalable advanced analytics, faster environment provisioning, and enterprise-grade security and compliance for regulated and enterprise workloads.

Customer Problem

The customer’s analytics workloads were spread across on-premises systems and fragmented environments, creating operational and scalability challenges.

Key issues included:

  • Limited scalability for advanced analytics workloads
  • Slow and resource-intensive provisioning of new analytics environments
  • Difficulty supporting multiple analytics languages under consistent governance
  • Operational inefficiencies due to siloed environments
  • Strict regulatory and enterprise reporting requirements demanding high availability, security, and auditability


The organization required a unified, cloud-native analytics platform that could deliver scalability, agility, and enterprise-grade governance from the ground up.

    Solution

    UsefulBI designed and deployed SOLAS, a secure, cloud-native enterprise analytics platform built on AWS.

    Core Architecture Components:

    • SAS Viya deployed on Amazon EKS (Kubernetes-based microservices architecture)
    • Workload-isolated node groups for stateless services, stateful components, and compute workloads
    • Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP for centralized, secure data storage
    • Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL for metadata and platform services
    • Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
    • CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments


    Security & Governance by Design:

    • VPC isolation for network-level security
    • IAM-based role access controls
    • Encryption using AWS KMS
    • Secrets management
    • Centralized audit logging
